Add Images

Used to add new images to an album.

Add to albums: Select the album, or albums, you wish to add the images to. You must select at least one.

Add From: You have the option to either add “Local Files” by browsing for individual files or “Files on Server” to import images that you have already loaded onto your server using an FTP program.

You can load up to 10 local files, and each can be either a jpg or a zip file containing jpg files.

Typically you will use the local files option for smaller albums. The files on server option is a much better choice when you have either large images or a large number of images. Many web hosts are set to only allow either 2mb or 8mb of files to be uploaded at once. The files on server option gets around this limitation.

Image Options:

  • Black & White: Allow your visitors to see the images you’re loading in black and white.
  • Sepia: Allow your visitors to see the images you’re loading in a sepia tone. Note that this requires the ImageMagick library.
  • Strip EXIF and IPTC metadata: You can save a little space by stripping out the EXIF and IPTC metadata from the files during import. This doesn’t save much space, and if you’re using the save for web option in Photoshop prior to uploading this is already done for you.
  • Add Digital Product (Pro Only): Add a digital pricing item to each image as it’s uploaded so you don’t have to go back and do it manually.

Image Title: Select what rules ProofBuddy will use to determine the title of your images. We have never seen anyone use anything other that filename, although the other options are there just in case. You can always go back and change the title later if you change your mind.

Add: Once you’ve selected the files and options you want click the add button and the images will upload (if needed) and import. You should see a status window appear to let you know what’s going on.

  1. I am trying to figure out how to do bulk uploading to my proofbuddy account on my website. Unfortunately I am terrible with understanding all the pc jargon and though I have read these forums several times now still am not able to understand what is going on.......uploading 200pics one at a time sucks. Looking for any step by step instructions please thanks so much

    • Create a zip file containing all the images you want to upload then upload the zip it will be decompressed and the images will be added to you album

  2. I have uploaded 70 small jpg files to the upload folder via Ftp. I can select all in the server option but the add button does not highlight?

What have I done wrong ?

    • Are you using Safari on a Mac?

We're finishing up a bug fix release that should be available in the next couple of weeks. One of the changes is that the button defaults to enabled instead of disabled because of issues with Mac Safari on that page.

  3. I am a very new user to proof buddy! I am trying to upload images in an album right now, and find that it is very difficult to upload bulk images. My latest attempt involves zipping up approximately 65 photos and uploading it to the "upload" folder on my server. I can't seem to find that zip file however, when I try to "add image."

When I try "local server," it takes forever and a day to upload images, and in the end it doesn't do anything. It just freezes.

    Please help!

    • Any chance your filename has an ampersand in it? That's known to cause issues and is slated to be fixed in the next maintenance release. Do you see anything when you go to the uploads folder?

Some hosts limit the size that can be uploaded using the local files option, and there's nothing that ProofBuddy can do about that. The files on server option is the only work around to that.

How big is the zip? Are you downsizing the images before zipping or letting ProofBuddy do it for you?

  4. I set up proofbuddy for my wife last year and she has been using it with no problems, up until today. She went to upload the images from the server and for some reason it does nothing when she clicks it. Normally it would have asked her what directory to link to, but it doesn't do anything. Any ideas why it's not working?

    • Most likely there is an ampersand ( & ) in either a filename or folder name in the files you FTP'd. Something like "Bob & Alice". It is something that's slated to be fixed in an upcoming release, but for now the easiest thing is to just use "and" instead.

    • Turns out it was an issue with Google Chrome. Most browsers will display the box that lets you browse your server as soon as you change the dropdown. Chrome waits until after you click off the dropdown after changing it. Still works, just one more click.

  5. I set up an album and started to upload my images (total of 32) using the Local Files. I got 20 uploaded, and when I chose the other 10 the add button on the bottom was no longer highlighted. So I couldn't click on it. I decided to remove the album and load the images onto the server via FTP and start over, but I'm having the same issue, the Add button is not highlighted so that I can click and load. The only other settings I changed was turning off the b/w and sepia options. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

    Thanks a bunch!

  7. When I upload the images the program freezes up on the processing of the images. It does this both when they upload via the site or through the ftp upload... Am I doing something wrong? I have tried using different browsers and different settings on the actual upload screen. I have tried IE, FF, and Chrome.

  8. hi, i'm also having a problem with uploading images.
The "Add" button is no longer highlighted, i've attempted uploading using IE, Firefox, and Chrome but all three didn't work.

I had it once while using Firefox (after rebooting my pc) that the "Add" button was highlighted, so i attempted to upload. It seemed to be working fine, but I just kept getting the "uploading..." box, finally it said they were uploaded but when i went back to check they were not.
    Any ideas?
    Thx! :)

  9. Hi. I'm having problems with adding my pictures from server. I have uploaded my pictures with FTP to my server, and want to add them to a album. When the "Importing Images" window get up, it says: "Uploading: Done", "Processing: 0001.JPG" and then nothing more happens. Any idea on what I do wrong??

    Thanx... ;)

  10. I am uploading 42 images that are 640 x 640 max (jpg) and it always stops at 31. I contacted my host and they checked error logs, but didn't turn anything up. it would be nice if we had information regarding what needs to be increased or configured to make this product work right.

    • Is #31 always the same image, and is it always exactly 31? Usually when it hangs on a specific image there's something going on with that file.

Email would probably be a quicker way to get this fixed than blog comments. If you'll send us a contact form using the link on the right we'll get the ball rolling.

  11. I am trying to add Photos using the Files from Server option, I am using Chrome on Mac 10.7. When I select the Files from server option, I do not get the usual window to choose the file location. I just switched to Mac a few weeks ago, it is still working fine in Chrome for Windows. I used my old laptop and got them moved from the server, but would like to use just one computer to do everything. I did read the comment above about making the selection in Chrome and then clicking off the selection, but that does not seem to work. Is there a plugin for Chrome that I should download? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    • Does the screen change when you pick files on server and its just empty or does nothing other than the dropdown change?

What version of chrome? I do most if my development on a macbook running chrome.

      • Nothing changes but the drop down. The window for moving the files never opens. I am using Chrome ver. 16.0.912.77 which according to my update link is the latest version.
