  1. Forgive my ignorance, but how do you update without overwriting all your previous data? Thanks!

    • Depends on what version you're upgrading from.

Going from an earlier 2.0 version is just a matter of uploading the newer files on top of the old. Unless you manually edited the basic white or basic black themes then nothing is changed except for the version. Your data is all in a database that's not part of the upload and your images are separate.

Upgrading from 1.0 is the same process, except you'll be prompted to upgrade the database the first time you visit your site.

As always though, it doesn't hurt to make a backup first.

  2. I unzipped the download and ftp'd the files over to my server, overwriting what was there before. I should back up and say I'm on a Mac running Safari and proof buddy 2.0. I was creating new albums and then uploading images but when I got to the point of adding the images to the album, the "Add" button was not clickable. Seems like I've had this problem before and my remedy was to go to a Windows machine with IE to complete this task. So knowing I've upgraded before and it being pretty simple, I went ahead and downloaded 2.0.4. As I mentioned, I unzipped the download and ftp'd the files to the server. Don't ask why I didn't just unzip them on the server other than it was like 1 am in the morning!

Well, I'm at it again, creating and updating another album. The Add button still is not an option. It was once, but to add more pictures, it is greyed out. I've deleted and recreated the album with no luck. What am I missing? What do i need to do to get the Mac/Safari combination to work?

As for the installation, I must have missed something. After the ftp was complete, I could not login to proof buddy the way I normally would. So out of desperation, I did the install process and reused my original database. I've wiped everything out. My albums were gone. I'm afraid to see if my pricing is still in tact or not. My order history is gone, but my previous uploaded pictures were still there.

I totally missed any mention of creating a backup of specific files and the database. I should have known, but it didn't cross my mind.

Is there any hope of retrieving my past orders and pricing?

    • You might check with your host about backups. Typically, a good host will keep some sort of backup and may be able to restore.

      • But when adding images, the Add button is not available even after upgrading to 2.0.4. I was able to ad images once this morning to an album but if I go to upload more, the Add button is not available.
